Reports have it that the generator was found installed at a hotel just a kilometre away from the county headquarters of Kathwana which is allegedly owned by ex Governor Samuel Mbae Ragwa.
It is believed the former Governor diverted to private property, the backup generator after it and another one were donated by an NGO when the former Governor was in charge.
The news was awash yesterday (Friday) with stories of how a the generator worth Ksh 2.5 million which had been reserved for use in the county headquarters disappeared mysteriously.
Police however claim the former Governor had called the county government officers asking them to pick up the equipment reportedly because he had borrowed it for use until after the general elections.
“We are in consultation with the county government on whether they wanted to prefer charges against the former Governor or whether they wanted the matter to rest after the recovery,” the Standard quoted an official who sought anonymity.
